Please Send a Word of Support to our Liberian Architecture Students Representing Liberia in the AIAS Design Competition

Posted by B.A.T.I.H. on January 24, 2014 at 7:25 AM

Students of the Architectural Training Consultants, (Liberia), will be representing ATC and Liberia in a design competition sponsored by the American Institute of Architect Students, AIAS.

The American Institute of Architect Students (AIAS) is an intense student-run organization that has been working for the betterment of the Architectural Education Community for over 50 years.

This is Liberia's first architecture student design competition and the very first Liberian student membership to the AIAS.

The design program:

  • Universally designed (UD) throughout
  • 1500 gross sf maximum for entire project (i.e., new and renovated SF combined)
  •  2 BDs/ 2 baths minimum
  •  In-house laundry area
  •  Integration of building with the site
  •  Support for and integration of owner’s meaningful life events

The Client:

A warm and wonderful 95-year-old--who wishes to renovate his farm’s century-old log cabin as his home. He lives alone, drives legally, cooks and cleans for himself, and owns a new iPad. He wants a fresh, new design to enlarge his cabin in ways he can afford and which will allow him to care for himself while maintaining his independence.

Please join us in supporting our Liberian students. We see this as an opportunity to contribute to the future of our young Liberian professionals and to the infrastructural development of Liberia.

We will be having our second design meeting in Liberia on Saturday January 25, 2014 at  5:30 p.m. Lib. time and 11:30 a.m. central time.

Please Skype in at atc.liberia and send your words of support to these young professionals. You can also call  011 231 880 671 554 to send out your shout.
